MELTING MOMENTS - Our Second Little Ray of Sunshine

I am so thrilled and excited to introduce you all to our second little ray on sunshine due 3rd June, 2012!

Evan and I are both so happy and can’t begin to express how lucky we feel to have been given another chance to welcome a child into this world. We are already so fortunate to have Oscar; our beautiful, crazy, noisy, amazing, inquisitive, adventurous and loving 2 year old and to picture him as a BIG brother is just awesome!

When we first saw our little baby at 12 weeks, the realisation and overwhelming emotion of a second child hit us. Lines like “Can you believe this!?” and “We’re going to have to 2 children!?” got thrown around along with “I am soooooooooo happy!” and “How lucky are we?!”. Fast forward 8 weeks and we went along for our 20 week scan and the baby had already grown 13cm’s….what the! How crazy!

Even though it’s the second time round for us, everything is still blowing us away. The fact that I have a person growing inside of my tummy still manages to baffle me, especially now the little one is becoming bigger and more active. The feeling of him or her (oh yes, we are keeping it a surprise!) rolling about is one of the most amazing and indescribable feelings in the whole world!

I have a feeling this won’t be the last time our ray of sunshine will make it into my Melting Moments posts!

MELTING MOMENTS - Clementine Willa Jones

One of the best feelings ever? Hearing that two amazing friends have welcomed a gorgeous baby girl into this world! I am so happy to introduce Clementine Willa Jones born on 27th December 2011, weighing 3.3kg to you all.

Bec & Nathan are two very close friends of ours and when I received the message that Clementine had arrived safely I was overwhelmed with happyness, relief, butterflies and excitment! I love Clementine to bits (oh and you too Bec & Nathan) and I am sure you will agree that no one could blame my heart for melting everytime I see her!

COURSE INSPIRATION - Indigo Blues

Late last year I (nervously) enrolled in an Interior Design course, it's something I had thought about doing for awhile but it had taken me a bit of time to pluck up the courage to “just go for it!” I have since completed 3 assignments and haven’t looked back! I am so happy I decided to enrol and I have been surprised by my results and how much I am enjoying all the readings, research and assignments. Plus it’s a great excuse to waste spend time on the internet immersed in interior, design and gorgeous blogs!

This regular feature every Wednesday is a place where I am going to share some of the lovely interiors I come across and a place where I can spill out all the ideas running through my head for the “dream home”.

One of the best Christmas presents I received was Sibella Court's book Etcetera. Ever since starting my course I have become obsessed with her images, website, shop and anything I can find on her.... yes obsessed!

How Sibella describes this particular book;

“This book is about slapdash styling and deconstructed decoration solutions. It’s filled with things that inspire me and may in turn excite you or trigger ideas for your own home. My hope is that when you flick through the pages you’ll begin to look at your possessions from a new perspective and be encouraged to confidently reshuffle. Pin, paint, paste, scribble, and organise your interiors so they feel all shiny and new (even if all you love is weathered and old!).”

To guide people through the book Sibella has come up with a series of colour palettes to assist when going in search of little treasures either already around your home and when shopping.

The colour palette that has jumped out at me the most so far (haven’t finished scouring every page yet)! has been Indigo Blues, here are some of my favourite images from Sibella’s collection plus a few from my Indigo Blues Pinterest Board.

MELTING MOMENTS - My Nan

My first post on Happy, Pretty Things was all about how amazing and beautiful my Nan is and it feels wonderful to have her as the subject on my first Melting Moments post for 2012.

Nan is currently volunteering 1 day a week (every Thursday) for the Westpac Helicopter Op Shop in my home town of Ballina. She loves getting down there every week, chatting with the ladies and sifting through everything that has been dropped off. Nan is always completely surprised with what people give them to sell and is forever eyeing off “the best stuff” before it hits the shelves!

I thought I would take the opportunity while being at home over Christmas to visit her while working to take a look around her workplace, meet some of her friends and perhaps pick a couple of little treasures. Unfortunately they were closed over the holidays; however to my surprise Nan had already put a few things away for me, yippee!

Nan was so sweet when she brought her finds out to me (over a cup of tea of course) and I was so touched that she had thought about my love for mismatched bits & pieces and started to collect for me. Very lucky!

Love my Nan to bits, her thoughtfulness, love, humour and all round good vibe continues to amaze me and I’m very proud to be able to share this moment with you all!
