Ever since listening to Triple J stream acts live from Splendour in the Grass this year I have been reminiscing about some of my fave festival moments. I love the festival vibe, there’s nothing better than donning on your dress, slapping on a bit sunscreen, having a few drinks and dancing with friends!
Some unforgettable festival acts for me;
Goldfrapp - Splendour in the Grass 2003 |
Dave Matthews Band - East Coast Blues & Roots Festival 2005 |
Michael Franti - East Coast Blues & Roots Festival 2005 |
Moby - Splendour in the Grass 2005 |
Bloc Party - Splendour in the Grass 2005 |
The Finn Brothers - Homebake 2005 |
Tool - Big Day Out 2007 |
Van She - Parklife 2008 |
Groove Armada - Parklife 2010 |
Groove Armada - Parklife 2010 |
Foals - Laneway Festival 2011 |
Warpaint - Laneway Festival 2011 |
Would love to hear what are some of your favourite festival moments are?
Ooh love this post Kate! Mine would be Tool (Big Day Out 2009.. I think?), Faith No More (Soundwave 2010) and a few that weren't festivals but are right up there: seeing Art vs Science this year in a tiny, underground bar in New York (they rocked it hard!), seeing my all-time faves Fleetwood Mac live a few years ago in Brisbane and funnily enough, Rihanna... she was seriously good! Gosh my music taste really is a mish-mash! x
ReplyDeleteOoooh so many to choose from! Highlight would have to include:
ReplyDeletePulp
Wireless Festival 2011
2Many Djs
Lovebox 2011
Empire of The Sun
Lovebox 2010
Plump DJs
Parklife 2008
Modest Mouse
Falls Festival 2006
The Dandy Warhols
Falls Festival 2005
Lyrics Born
Good Vibrations 2005
De La Soul and The Black Keys
Falls Festival 2004
This is fun...I would also nominate Pulp at Wireless and 2ManyDJs at Lovebox (both amazing). And (in no particular order) the Strokes, Sydney BDO 2005; Ben Harper at Blues and Roots 2001; Blackalicious, Splendour 2002; The Vasco Era breaking into Kokomo at Falls 06 was pretty fun; Franz Ferdinand at Splendour 2004 and Spiderbait at some festival in Perth 2006. There would be more...
ReplyDeleteGolden Plains in 2009 has been the best festival I've ever been to. Next on the list is Meredith.
PS Plump DJs at Harbourlife 2003 was pretty epic too.
ReplyDeleteAnd would love to see Warpaint! x
Nice work KC, I like it.. Primal Scream - BDO 2000 (not the best BDO ever Ev.. but close) Scratch Perverts and Freq Nasty- Parklife 2007, Jurassic 5 - Good Vibes 2007, Neil Young and the Prodigy - BDO 2009, Freestylers - BDO 2005, Fat Freddy's Drop - Bluestfest 2010, Blackalicious - Falls 2007.. and although not a festival... Lyrics Born at the Espy in 2008 (although a miracle we made it in PK after upset the bouncer)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! All of these sound like epic moments in our musical memories!

Nico; Warpaint are amazing live, you will certainly be swaying to a few of their tunes when you get to see them :) x
Cam; Yes we were lucky to make it in that night! And lucky we all have some sort of memory of it :) Good times!!
